Who is Ray Kroc? | The Ray Kroc Bio
Ray Kroc is the founder of the McDonald’s franchise. He was a paper cup salesman for a large portion of his working life, then moved on to become a mikshake machine salesman.
In 1954, he visited a restaurant in San Bernadino, California and fell in love! He saw the quick service, high quality, and raving fans of restaurant owners, Dick and Mac McDonald, and envisioned the concept exploding into franchises all over. At the time Dick and Mac were unsuccessful with growing the franchise concept of McDonald’s and Ray requested to lead the growth of the frachise portion of the company.
In his 50s, far after the point Kroc thought he’d achieve his ideal lifestyle, he was starting a new career growing McDonald’s, but it was a success! In 1955, he founded The McDonald’s System Inc. and later followed that with the purchase of the McDonald’s name and operating system.
He drastically grew McDonald’s by selling it as a vehicle to achieve the ideal lifestyle for many franchisees and living up to the promise. Franchisees bought McDonald’s franchises for hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the brand has spread throughout the world.
