jim rohn quotes

If you’re looking for Jim Rohn quotes to inspire you in leadership, attitude, teamwork, or success, you’re in the right place. Here, you’ll get Jim Rohn quotes as well as his biography, book recommendations, and some actionable takeaways.

So, we all have that point in life where we’re trying to find our direction.  Some of us want to go in the same direction as our parents, but there’s still a period where we’re trying to make our adulthood a snug fit for us.  For those of us that want to go a different direction than our parents or grandparents, we may have even more challenges because we’re trying something we may not have seen firsthand, and we’re trying to adapt new day-to-day habits.

Many people don’t get past this period of self actualization, and achieve what they feel they could.  If you fail to push the limits of your ability, explore, and learn, so you can become the best version of yourself, you later live with the pain of regret.  It can be hard to navigate your way to success without a good attitude and good compounding actions, but where do you learn about the habits of successful people, so you can begin to adapt?

You learn from people like Jim Rohn and others who share their advice.  If you push the limits, instead of living with regret, you can look back on a full life with little to no regrets.

Which one will you choose?

jim rohn quotesWho is Jim Rohn?

Growing up as a Idaho potato farmer’s child, no one would have forecasted the levels of success he’d achieve.  Jim Rohn was born on September 17th, 1930 to Emmanuel and Claire Rohn.  He had a very humble childhood, went to local schools, had no record of wealth or a “golden spoon”.

In fact, by the time he was 25, he was deeply in debt as a new father and a husband!  He struggled with how he would provide for his family, which surely meant his young adulthood was a financial struggle until he found a mentor.

He was invited to a seminar by the late Earl Sheoff, which was the beginning of several upward compounding events in his life.  Sheoff started mentoring Rohn, explaining self-responsibility, defininng his circle of infuence, and holding him accountable to goals and milestones.  Shoeff mentored Rohn for 5 years before he passed away, and before he died, he dared Rohn to become a millionaire.  After just one year of the dare, Jim Rohn reported that he’d become a millionaire!

In the 1960s, Rohn moved to Beverly Hills, California where he began storytelling at the local Rotary Club Meeting.  In his childhood, he had learned storytelling from his dad, so he took this skill, and began telling the story called, “Idaho Farm Boy Makes it to Beverly Hills”.  He amassed an upward spiral of attention from telling that story, and eventually launched his self-development business and speaking career from that.

Other notable achievements of Jim Rohn include:

  • He held seminars for 39 years where he influenced 4 million people and 6000 audiences
  • Won CPAE award from the National Speakers’ Association
  • He wrote more than 25 books, audios, and video programs
  • He is credited as a mentor to much of today’s self-development industry including Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, Mark Victor Hansen, T. Harv Eker, Chris Widener, Mark R. Hughes, and many more…

  1. Here is my favourite quote:
“You got to handle the negative. You don’t have to live in it. You don’t have to dwell on it, but you do have to handle it.”
Often forgotten but immensely crucial in personal and business life.
There will always be negativity so learning how to master it will improve your wellbeing.
The trick is to be able to deal with negative people, ideas and feedback without letting it bring you down. It is just another problem that needs solving so you can get on with your life.

    1. Hi Martin! I love that quote and what you said about it. Negativity is a part of life, but it doesn’t have to monopolize our focus. Great point!

  2. “Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time.”  Boy, that’s the truth.  I’ve had cancer twice now – once when I turned 40 and again at 50.  I’m not approaching 60 . . . uh oh!  So the idea of making the most of your time is very, very clear to me.  And it’s great to hear all this from a fellow Rotarian.  I’ve changed my attitude toward time over the past 20 years to make sure I’m doing what I want to do NOW, rather than waiting.  That’s one reason I retired early and searched out other ways to supplement my income.  Your ideas are very valuable and accurate, in my experience.  Thank you.

    1. Wow Don! What a story you have. You probably have alot of nuggets to add about prioritization. It seems like chronic disease has it’s way of making you reflect on which priorities really matter, but I wouldn’t wish anyone to go thru that to learn those lessons. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your story!

  3. I think everyone in this world has some knowledge beneficial to business owners in many ways. Some may have just one or 2 things and some may have a lot. They key is to find the golden nugget while you’re hanging with them, and these quotes from Jim Rohn are outstanding in many ways. I love how he mentions that success is just about being disciplined by doing daily habits and never giving up. That really is the true key to becoming successful, doing things no matter what even when you don’t want to do it. Great article and I’ll be back for more.

    1. Hi Brandon! It’s important to learn good interpersonal skills in business, but I’d say be careful with listening to everyone for business advice. Not everyone advises well. I love the quote you pointed out about the daily habits. It’s paramount!

  4. Hi Tiffany, I love a good Jim John quote, and sometimes I will read them when things don’t seem to be going my way. They give me the reality check that I need! My favourites tend to be the leadership and the motivational type quotes. Depending on how I’m feeling I’ll focus in on one that’s meaningful at the time. The one that I will focus on today is “Happiness is not by chance, but by choice”.

Another one that has been front of mind and that I keep coming back to is “If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary”. When I started my online business I was sick of settling for ordinary! Thanks Tiffany for the fabulous reminder of these awesome quotes.

    1. Hi Melissa! It’s so good you made the commitment to be extraordinary. Jim Rohn’s quotes are a great fuel as you’re pursuing your extraordinary. Best of wishes to your endeavors!

  5. Hi Tiffany, I enjoyed the quotes from Jim Rohn. But what I love about your website is each of us can be successful in becoming a world-changing entrepreneur. If we have the right tools.Your website does that, especially in the “My recommendations” section. You offer advice on not just what to do, but also how to do it.  In your conclusion, I like that you are looking for ways to improve yourself, but also to help others improve and be successful. You come across as someone who cares about others. (Could you explain or speak about why this is important to you).Thank you so much for the information. Your website is going on my favorite list for sure.

    Good job,johnny

    1. Hi Johnny! Thanks for your very sweet compliments. I truly do care about others. It’s no greater purpose in life than to help others in my opinion. I’m glad you enjoyed the Jim Rohn quotes. I’d love to see you around more!
