Because when you work from home you don’t want to sit in a bad position all day every day. I think my biggest favorite is the alarm clock. It makes me so much more effective.     Thoroughly enjoyed your article on best home office supplies. I’ve had an area in the lower level of my house sectioned off for an office space but it’s fairly minimal. It’s basically a desk and a small table with a printer and my files below. I’m going to take your advice and do some upgrading to my home office. Even though my “day job” is still at my employers office I find myself working at my home office more and more. At work we just moved into a new building and we have the desks that rise up – I love those. I believe I’ll order one of those and one of the mats to stand on. Keep up the great work!

  3. I have to say the standing desk is becoming very popular. When we sit most of our weight is on our poor tailbone, the standing desk is great for posture as well taking weight off of where we can get damaged the most. 

    I never placed much importance on lighting before, but since my office is my kitchen where I make cooking videos tutorials. Lighting has become very important to me. I think the lighting would really depend upon the type of business one is running.

    The last, but not least the alarm clock. It’s perfect for timing videos to make sure they stay in under the minute duration. I really love the great reviews and suggestions you have here. I will be looking at some of these myself.

    1. Hi John! I’ve seen quite a few chiropractors who promote the standing desks. There’s quite a bit of research showing they’re good for your health. 

      As far as wall hangings, it’s preferential. For me, I like vision boards, Bible scriptures, or quotes.

  5. This was a fantastic read.  I used to work out of my living room, with the tele on and everyone moving around me.  I used to find my work load was massively reduced because of it. 

     The bit you stated about being clear on how you plan on using the space is spot on. Since dedicating my spare room in the house as my office and knowing this room is only to be used when I am working has made a huge difference.  There are now Zero distractions.

    I loved reading point 17 as well.  Goal setting and note taking supplies.  Without goals and a plan its impossible to know where you want to get to.
