The Importance of Ease of Use: It’s Subjective

Sometimes, the choice between one platform and the other hinges on ease of use. You want to choose which tool will help you to effectively build a relationship with your customers. The features may sound good, but if you won’t use them, it’s pointless. Personal opinions sound good, but the ultimate decision on which email marketing software is going to hinge on which one you will use most effectively.

  • Can be confusing to use for some (especially those who haven’t done email marketing before)

“Aweber is amazing”

What do you like best?

The best part about using aweber is it’s ease of use and ability to link with many other programs. They make it easy to keep track of your customers as well as automate a sequence of emails. I was able to get my investment in Aweber back within a couple months of using it. This may take more or less time depending on how big of a following your business has already.

What do you dislike?

It can be difficult to work with list segments sometimes. Trying to separate users from other users has to be done manually and then it can easily become confusing when you are naming the segments. Or specifically, when a user belongs to more than one segment.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you have a blog or online website then you need to be using Aweber.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Aweber helps me keep in touch with my customers. It is a very easy way to get them to revisit my website, as well as keep my business in their minds.

“Not the Most Sophisticated”

What do you like best?

The auto-save feature. When one is working on an email, Aweber saves progress every minute (and with each action) so it makes it easy to view email version history, and also not worry about losing progress. It’s also nice because this feature is comparable to an “undo” or “redo” button.

What do you dislike?

This email automation platform is not the most advanced, there are others that are more sophisticated and produce a much higher email quality. This email platform changes the resolution of images, Also, adding blocks (for images and text, etc) isn’t very flexible as far as the layout design goes. It is also difficult to customize the blocks (borders, sizing, etc). Finally, though Aweber will auto-save your progress, it does not save previously used fonts/colors, so each time you exit then go back into an email, you have to go through the customizing part to add to an existing email. The overall creative and styling process is terribly outdated.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you want an email automation software that is more sophisticated, I recommend shopping around. This is a very basic email platform that doesn’t have the same “bells & whistles” that other email automation software platforms offers. The creative styling and layout of the email platform isn’t very modernized.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Aweber has been used to send out information about upcoming sales/promos. That’s very helpful marketing and it’s simple to read the stats on emails (when customers open the email, time of day to send, unsubscribes, subscriber sign up and so on). It’s an easy platform that saves previous templates and stores drafts for future use.

Common Negative Feedback

  • Difficult to resize images in the emails

“Getresponse: The Ultimate Email Marketing Tool!”

What do you like best?

First of all getresponse is very cost efficient For it’s basic plan which is $15/month it offers alot of great features. Secondly Getresponse is the perfect choice for beginners it would not take time for beginners to get use to it because it is really easy to use.

What do you dislike?

Firstly the A/B split testing is not really convenient I feel that we donot have much control over it. Secondly I face issue when I want to adjust the image sizes it pixelates and takes time to get clear view of the image.

Recommendations to others considering the product

As i said before Getresponse is the perfect choice for beginners. If you are new to email marketing and looking to get a good email marketing service that is easy to use and cost effective look no further Getresponse is the best choice

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I use it as the only tool for my email business firstly I obviously use it for promoting my services to my subscribers and secondly besides that i use getresponse for building my landing page and funnel also which saves me cost for not using other landing page builders

Most Helpful Negative GetReponse Review

“Excellent Value email marketing service”

GetResponse is affordable, with many features. When compared to the other email marketing services out there, they have been around for a long time and are a trusted company with good deliverability rates. They continue to improve their UI and add new features. Landing pages and webinars are an additional service they offer, which you can combine with your email marketing account to have an all-in-one platform.

What do you dislike?

Their automation tools are quite basic currently, other services such as Active Campaign and Drip are far superior, but if you’re looking for a service to do email newsletters or send standard automated follow up sequences then it is one of the best options out there. They are building out more CRM-type features, I wish there was tagging and more API integrations.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If your focused on an affordable service with good deliverability and a lot of API integrations into other services, GetResponse is the service to check out.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Before I started using GetResponse, I was using MailChimp and a few other email marketing services. Their pricing is what drew me to them in the first place, they were the most affordable at the time and the only email service that offered automation services as part of their lower priced tiers. I was looking for an e-mail marketing solution for newsletters for my clients and myself. GetResponse also touted a strong deliverability rating. I’ve been using them for many years now and continue to have an account there because of their flexibility and pricing continues to be best in class. Their features are starting to lag behind those of Active Campaign and others for the automation sequence funnel creation and tagging, but they are still a rock solid service and are currently revamping their UI and features.

Major Differences Between Aweber and GetResponse

  • Getresponse has a nice feature to see your email messages on mobile devices
  • Getresponse allows you to customize your plan more for pricing
  • Getresponse offers 24/7 customer support whereas, Aweber has set hours
  • GetResponse offers 50% off forever for nonprofits
  • Aweber offers first 3 months free for nonprofits and 25% off afterwards
  • Aweber has standard good reviews about their support
  • GetResponse served 350K+ customers and Aweber serves 100K+
  • Aweber offers unlimited image hosting whereas GetResponse offers 1GB
  • GetResponse offers surveys, webinars, and CRM, whereas Aweber only offers an integration
  • Deliverability rates: Some customers say they’ve recieved higher open rates and deliverability at GetReponse than Aweber, however, deliverability is hugely based on effective relationship building, sending out valuable and relevant content, then about an email service provider. TRY EACH OUT AND SEE WHICH YOU GET BETTER RESULTS WITH.
  • Pricing: GetResponse is cheaper

My Final Opinion of GetResponse vs. Aweber

Overall, both email marketing services are great. They’re reliable, they’ve been effective tools for hudreds of thousands of people, and they continually tweak to offer more value. It really boils down to which you feel most comfortable using and which has the features you’re looking for. I think you should try them each to see which is easier for you to use, and if you’re not satisfied with either, I’ve added some alternatives for you to check out below.

Is there a Winner? My Opinion…

Out of the two platforms (GetResponse and Aweber), I think…

GetResponse is the winner!

They give you more features for the price. They also have a very nice interface and their templates are more modern. Some people have said their deliverability is higher on Aweber, and if you find this, I think deliverability is a very important metric you shouldn’t overlook. Top Alternatives to GetResponse and Aweber

Convertkit – Convertkit is an alternative email marketing software that offers more segmenting and tagging features than either GetResponse or Aweber. If you’re an online entrepreneur, these segmenting and tagging features may be very valuable for you and you may want to CREATE A 30-DAY FREE TRIAL ACCOUNT WITH CONVERTKIT.

ConstantContact – Alternatively, many internet marketing pros say ConstantContact is a better email marketing platform than Aweber or GetResponse because of it’s features and ease of use. If neither GetResponse or Aweber is resonating with you, you may want to SET UP A 30-DAY FREE TRIAL ACCOUNT WITH CONSTANTCONTACT to see if it’s the right alternative for you.

VERDICT: Both Solid Tools (Depends on Your Comfort Level with the Features)

  1. Ilaisaane Tuakalau

Thank you for this review. I had no idea about what each software company could do. I am wanting to find a way to do landing pages which one of Aweber or Getresponse do you suggest is the most affordable for a small affiliate marketing business? I had looked at Aweber but because I did not know much about autoresponding softwares never signed up for the trial. I have only just created my website do you think it is also worthwhile to start now or wait until I have more content? I have about 18 posts on my niche site.

    1. Great questions! To answer your questions, if you’re looking for landing pages, you should definitely go with GetResponse. You can set up your email optins as soon as you want, and it’s good to start collecting emails as early as you can. I wouldn’t recommend putting a large emphasis on email sequences or anything like that until you have your content built out more, once you have a list that’s requesting your engagement, and you’re getting consistent traffic and conversions. That’s my opinion though.
